BMW Italian Open 2010. Il piacere si fa green
Ancora prima del colpo di inizio non si hanno dubbi che il BMW Italian Open edizione 2010 passerà alla storia del golf come un evento speciale e indimenticabile. Al Royal Park I Roveri vicino Torino migliaia di appassionati di golf assisteranno al debutto di Matteo Manassero, giovane stella del golf italiano, che ha compiuto 17 anni da appena tre giorni.
Dal 6 al 9 maggio dovrà affrontare una dura competizione in quello che è uno dei tornei più antichi e più ambiti del Tour europeo.
“Ovviamente non vedo l’ora di giocare il mio primo evento come professionista” – ha dichiarato Manassero in conferenza stampa al Palazzo Madama di Torino – “E sono assolutamente entusiasta di fare il mio debutto in casa e ad un evento così prestigioso come il BMW Italian Open”.
Due settimane fa, il prodigioso Manassero, di Negrar in provincia di Verona, è diventato il più giovane giocatore a fare il taglio al Masters di Augusta, dove sarebbe finito al 36° posto. L’anno scorso, al suo primo debutto ad un torneo importante, aveva già stupito gli appassionati di golf all’Open Championship a Turnberry (Scozia) con un potenziale 13° posto.
L’edizione 2010 del BMW Italian Open, un torneo che risale al 1925, è organizzato da una partnership tra la Federazione Italiana Golf, European Tour e BMW, ed è uno degli eventi più attesi del calendario. Il montepremi è pari a 1,3 milioni di Euro.
“Siamo lieti di essere partner di questo prestigioso torneo” – ha dichiarato Gianni Oliosi, Direttore Relazioni Istituzionali e Comunicazione BMW Group Italia – “BMW e il Golf hanno molto in comune. Sono certo che tutti i visitatori del bellissimo Royal Park I Roveri assisteranno ad una appassionante gara di golf professionale e potranno apprezzare le accattivanti attività collaterali”.
La precedente edizione, la prima con BMW in qualità di Title Sponsor, è stata vinta dal giocatore argentino Daniel Vancsik, che ha chiuso con sei colpi in meno rispetto a John Daly (USA), Robert Rock (Inghilterra) e Raphael Jacquelin (Francia). BMW vi partecipa dal 2005, anno in cui il francese Julien Van Hauwe centra la buca 16 (par3) con una magistrale “hole in one” da 188 metri aggiudicandosi in questo modo la BMW 645 Cabrio, messa in palio da BMW Group Italia. In palio per la “hole in one” dell’edizione 2010 una BMW Serie 5.
La presenza di BMW, in qualità di Title Sponsor del BMW Italian Open rientra nell’impegno globale nel mondo del Golf della Casa automobilistica tedesca. Con un patrimonio nel Golf professionale che risale al 1989 anno in cui il primo BMW International Open ha avuto luogo a Monaco di Baviera, BMW è ormai il partner più importante del Tour europeo. Oltre ai tornei di Torino e Monaco di Baviera BMW è partner del PGA Championship a Wentworth, la manifestazione di punta del Giro. Inoltre, BMW ospita il BMW Championship all’interno del US PGA Tour ed è partner della Ryder Cup 2010, confermandosi il più importante global player nel mondo del golf professionale.
Quest’anno, grazie al concorso “Partecipa e vinci la PRO AM”, organizzato in collaborazione con RCS, verrà data la possibilità a tre estratti di partecipare il 5 maggio alla PRO AM in squadra con un golfista professionista. Il concorso è riservato ai tesserati FIG (Federazione Italiana Golf) che avranno al momento dell’iscrizione e della partecipazione alla gara un handicap limitato a 18 per gli uomini e 24 per le donne EGA playing hcp (hcp pieno). Dal 13 al 25 aprile sarà attiva sui siti web www.gazzetta.it e www.corriere.it la pagina dedicata al concorso dove sarà possibile, per i tesserati, effettuare la procedura di registrazione. L’estrazione dei vincitori avverrà al termine del concorso ed entro il 28 aprile.
BMW Group Italia è entrato nel mondo del golf nel 1987 in veste di partner dell’Open d’Italia femminile. Da allora il rapporto tra BMW e il golf nel nostro Paese è cresciuto e, dopo una pausa di alcuni anni, si è consolidato, abbracciando il mondo del golf nella sua totalità. BMW Group Italia da partner iniziale diventa Title Sponsor dell’Open femminile per il quadriennio dal 1991 sino al 1994, anni in cui salgono alla ribalta nomi di prestigio come l’inglese Laura Davies e la svedese Annika Sorenstam. Il 2004 segna il ritorno di BMW Group Italia nel mondo del golf, dando il proprio nome a quattro edizioni consecutive del Ladies Italian Open, l’evento clou della stagione del golf femminile italiano e il secondo torneo più importante a livello nazionale dopo l’Open maschile.
In campo amatoriale BMW Group Italia scende in campo per la prima volta nel 1989 con la BMW Golf Cup International, un circuito di gare per giocatori dilettanti di portata mondiale, che oggi coinvolge 40 Paesi e oltre 100mila concorrenti all’anno. Il torneo, che dal 1990 prevede una finale mondiale organizzata dalla Casa di Monaco, si è disputata in Italia ininterrottamente sino al 1999. Dopo una pausa di cinque anni è tornato in Italia nel 2005. L’edizione italiana del tour è partita lo scorso 10 aprile, come di consueto, da Milano e si snoderà in 20 tappe lungo la penisola. A fare da cornice alla finale italiana che si svolgerà il prossimo 16 ottobre sarà il prestigioso Golf Club Royal Park I Roveri. I tre vincitori parteciperanno alla finale mondiale insieme ai vincitori delle edizioni del torneo svolte in tutto il resto del mondo.
