In occasione delle giornate stampa del Salone Internazionale di New York (2-11 aprile), si sono svolte le votazioni dei World Car Awards, premi attribuiti da una giuria internazionale alle migliori automobili della propria categoria.
La Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro è stata scelta da 59 giurati, in rappresentanza di 25 Nazioni, quale “World Performance Car 2010”. Il prestigioso trofeo premia la capacità della R8 V10 di divertire alla guida e di portare su strada l’emozione delle competizioni.
Grazie alla potenza massima di 525 CV espressa dal dieci cilindri a iniezione diretta della benzina FSI, tecnologia portata alla vittoria nella 24 Ore di Le Mans dall’omonimo prototipo R8, la R8 V10 raggiunge la velocità massima di 316 km/h e accelera da 0 a 100 km/h in soli 3,9 secondi. Tra le caratteristiche esclusive della sportiva tedesca ci sono anche il telaio Audi Space Frame realizzato in alluminio e i gruppi ottici interamente in tecnologia LED.
La R8 V10 ha conquistato il titolo superando, nella votazione finale, due eccellenti contendenti quali la Ferrari California e la Porsche 911 GT3.
In virtù di questo risultato, le supersportive della Audi ottengono per la terza volta il titolo di “World Performance Car”, dopo i successi della R8 V8 nel 2008 e della RS 4 nel 2007.
Questa importante vittoria conquistata negli USA giunge a pochi giorni di distanza dall’inizio della commercializzazione in Italia della R8 Spyder, spinta dallo stesso 5.2 FSI 525 CV, che aggiunge l’emozione della guida a cielo aperto alle performance e alla sicurezza offerte dalla trazione integrale permanente quattro.
