Per la prima volta Peugeot vince il Rally di Montecarlo, la corsa pi\u00f9 nota al mondo assieme alla 500 Miglia di Indianapolis e alla 24 Ore di Le Mans, due gare che pure figurano nel palmar\u00e9s del Marchio. E lo fa con la 205 Turbo 16.<br \/>\nDopo aver dominato con la 404 e la 504 le grandi \u201cclassiche\u201d del Continente africano, suo mercato d\u2019esportazione principale, nel 1984 Peugeot entra nel Campionato Mondiale Rally affrontando le migliori Gruppo B, ossia le vetture tecnicamente pi\u00f9 esasperate. Lo fa con la 205, il modello della grande svolta commerciale e produttiva, destinato a ringiovanire l\u2019immagine del Marchio.<!--more--><br \/>\nIl nuovo programma agonistico, per il quale viene creata la nuova struttura Peugeot Talbot Sport &#8211; con a capo Jean Todt che ha appena smesso i panni del navigatore &#8211; si concentra sulla 205 Turbo 16. Di questa ne dovranno essere prodotti 200 esemplari stradali necessari per l\u2019omologazione in Gruppo B, e, secondo il regolamento del Mondiale Rally, almeno 20 in configurazione \u201cevoluzione\u201d destinata alle competizioni.<br \/>\nAlla vigilia del Rally di Montecarlo, la nuova Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 \u00e8 gi\u00e0 una macchina vincente. Nell\u201984, dopo l\u2019esordio al Tour de Corse, infatti, ha vinto le ultime tre gare iridate della stagione con Ari Vatanen-Terry Harryman, primi al 1000 Laghi in Finlandia e al RAC in Gran Bretagna, entrambe le prove su fondi sterrati, e il Sanremo, con i tipici asfalti liguri e i magnifici sterrati toscani.<br \/>\nMa il Montecarlo, dove si affronta la neve, presente su 25 delle 33 PS in programma, \u00e8 una nuova e impegnativa sfida. La partecipazione all&#8217;edizione del 1985, la 53esima della serie, viene preparata con la massima cura. Al via Ari Vatanen-Terry Harryman (telaio C11) unitamente a Timo Salonen-Seppo Harjanne (telaio C10), Bruno Saby-Jean Fran\u00e7ois Fauchille (telaio C6) con i quali Todt ha completato la squadra per la nuova stagione, dopo le trattative andate a vuoto con Walter R\u00f6hrl e Markku Alen.<br \/>\nIl percorso di 3883 chilometri, comprensivo della tappa di concentrazione \u2013 partenze da Bad Hombourg, Barcellona, Losanna, Montecarlo, Parigi e Sestriere \u2013 comprende 33 Prove Speciali, distribuite nelle tre tappe di Classificazione (Saint-\u00c9tienne- Domaine de Rouret, Percorso Comune &#8211; Domaine de Rouret-Grenoble-Gap-Monaco, e Finale \u2013 Monaco-Monaco), per un totale di 860,7 chilometri.<br \/>\nVatanen parte subito alla grande e vince la prova d\u2019apertura, sui 2 chilometri di Duni\u00e8res, ripresa in diretta da TF1. Poi \u00e8 R\u00f6hrl, gi\u00e0 quattro volte vincitore al \u201cMonte\u201d, che prende il largo. A partire dalla terza prova del Percorso Comune, per\u00f2, Vatanen attacca a fondo, marciando a 160-180 km\/h in sbandata sulla neve nelle curve pi\u00f9 veloci. Vince cinque PS e a Grenoble pu\u00f2 gi\u00e0 contare su un vantaggio di 2\u201904\u201d sul campione tedesco, vantaggio che sale poco dopo a 3\u201919\u201d.<br \/>\nMa ecco il colpo di scena. Al controllo di Gap, Harryman sbaglia i calcoli e timbra con 4\u2019 d\u2019anticipo. R\u00f6hrl torna di nuovo in testa, e questa volta con ben 4\u201941\u201d.
