Vincendo\u00a0il Rally dei Mille Laghia Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, la 205 Turbo 16 Evo 2 di Timo Salonen assicura al Leone il suo primo titolo mondiale, a un anno esatto dalla prima affermazione, sempre ad Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4.<br \/>\nNel Campionato del Mondo di quel fatidico 1985, la 205 Turbo 16 vince sei delle prime otto prove mondiali: Montecarlo, Svezia, Portogallo, Acropoli , Nuova Zelanda, Argentina. Il titolo iridato \u00e8 dunque un evento atteso, che matura per\u00f2 in condizioni particolari.<\/p>\n<p>Tre settimane prima, nel corso del Rally d\u2019Argentina, Ari Vatanen, pilota di punta della squadra, era stato vittima di un grave incidente da cui il campione si riprender\u00e0 solo dopo un lungo periodo di recupero.<br \/>\nIl suo compagno di squadra Timo Salonen, invece, centra la quarta vittoria stagionale e diventa l\u2019indiscutibile top driver del team che gli mette a disposizione, per il Rally Mille Laghi, un\u2019evoluzione della vettura, la 205 Turbo 16 EVO 2 che aveva esordito solo qualche mese prima.<\/p>\n<p>Il Mille Laghi 1985<\/p>\n<p>Jean Todt, il team manager del Leone, ancora teso e preoccupato per la salute di Ari Vatanen, sceglie come sostituto Kalle Grundel, che corre nel Campionato tedesco con la 205 T16 di Peugeot Germania. Lo svedese e Timo Salonen avranno a disposizione due nuovissime Evo 2, rispettivamente la C202 e la C203.<br \/>\nInizia la gara, la tensione aumenta. Gi\u00e0 nella prima speciale Grundel esce di strada e piega la scocca.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abAncora una volta &#8211; scrive Todt \u2013 la squadra si ritrova con una sola e unica macchina in grado di battersi per la vittoria. Fortunatamente Timo Salonen fa una corsa magnifica. L\u2019atmosfera cambia notevolmente &#8230; Sono contento. Timo domina. Vado all\u2019arrivo dell\u2019ultima Prova Speciale. Ci comunicano che Timo \u00e8 passato regolarmente davanti alla cellula di cronometraggio. Ed il nostro buono, il nostro magnifico Timo arriva, un po\u2019 pi\u00f9 commosso del solito &#8230; E\u2019 Campione del Mondo dei Piloti Rally; Peugeot \u00e8 Campione del Mondo Marche. E\u2019 fatta, in un fresco mattino finlandese\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>La 205 T16 Evo 2. La storia.<\/p>\n<p>La Evo 2 esordisce al Tour de Corse ad inizio maggio 1985, dodici mesi dopo la prima 205 T16, con il secondo posto di Bruno Saby pur frenato da un evidente sottosterzo. Nelle settimane successive viene sottoposta a una serie di intensi collaudi mirati alla ricerca di una definitiva messa a punto.<br \/>\nUna Gruppo B Evo permette molti aggiornamenti. In effetti, la nuova Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Evo 2 \u00e8 una vettura molto diversa dall\u2019originale. A livello rigidit\u00e0 il parametro torsionale \u00e8 quasi raddoppiato. Per il motore, \u00e8 stato sviluppato un pacchetto che comprende una nuova testata, un turbo Garret (al posto di un KKK) che lavora con una pressione di 2,5 bar, un intercooler aria-acqua, un albero motore alleggerito.<\/p>\n<p>Il risultato \u00e8 impressionante.
