Un obiettivo che impone di ridurre quasi a zero le emissioni di CO2 dei veicoli entro i prossimi trent\u2019anni, individuando le giuste strategie. L\u2019elettromobilit\u00e0 sta prendendo piede da poco tempo e le auto elettriche possono essere a emissioni zero solo se lo \u00e8 anche la produzione dell\u2019elettricit\u00e0 che serve per alimentarle. Inoltre, la met\u00e0 dei veicoli che saranno su strada nel 2030 saranno dotati di motori diesel o a benzina. Ne consegue che anche i veicoli esistenti dovranno fare la loro parte per ridurre le emissioni di CO2. Una delle possibili soluzioni \u00e8 l\u2019utilizzo di carburanti sintetici.<\/p>\n<p>Sette motivi per cui i carburanti sintetici rientrano tra le soluzioni della mobilit\u00e0 del futuro:<\/p>\n<p>1) Tempo<\/p>\n<p>I carburanti sintetici e rinnovabili hanno ormai superato la fase della ricerca di base. Tecnicamente, \u00e8 gi\u00e0 possibile produrli. Si utilizza elettricit\u00e0 generata da fonti rinnovabili per ricavare idrogeno dall\u2019acqua, quindi si aggiunge il carbonio e infine si combinano CO2 e H2 per produrre benzina, diesel, gas o kerosene sintetici. Se da un lato il processo di produzione \u00e8 pronto, non si pu\u00f2 dire lo stesso della capacit\u00e0 produttiva, che dovr\u00e0 aumentare rapidamente per soddisfare la domanda. Incentivi potrebbero arrivare dalle quote carburante, grazie alla minore produzione di CO2 a fronte dei consumi di massa e dalle certezze che offre una pianificazione a lungo termine.<\/p>\n<p>2) Neutralit\u00e0 climatica<\/p>\n<p>Come suggerisce il nome, i carburanti sintetici e rinnovabili sono realizzati esclusivamente con l\u2019energia ottenuta da fonti rinnovabili come il sole o il vento. Idealmente, i produttori catturano la CO2 necessaria per produrre questo carburante dall&#8217;aria circostante, trasformando i gas serra in una risorsa. Viene cos\u00ec a crearsi un circolo virtuoso in cui la CO2 emessa dalla combustione dei \u00a0carburanti sintetici e rinnovabili viene riutilizzata per produrre nuovo combustibile. I veicoli su strada alimentati da carburante sintetico non saranno quindi dannosi per il clima.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 2\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>3) Infrastruttura e tecnologia dei sistemi di propulsione<\/p>\n<p>Il processo Fischer-Tropsch produce carburanti sintetici e rinnovabili che possono essere utilizzati nelle reti di distribuzione e nei motori esistenti. Gli esperti li chiamano carburanti sintetici \u201cdrop-in\u201d, perch\u00e9 possono essere distribuiti senza dover prima modificare l\u2019infrastruttura e i veicoli, hanno un impatto immediato e offrono risultati pi\u00f9 veloci. Possono essere anche aggiunti aicarburanti tradizionali per ridurre le emissioni di CO2 dei veicoli gi\u00e0 in circolazione, contribuendo alla causa ancora prima che sia avviata la produzione su vasta scala. Le strutture chimiche e le propriet\u00e0 di base della benzina rimangono intatte, tanto da poter alimentare anche le auto d\u2019epoca.<\/p>\n<p>4) Costi<\/p>\n<p>I costi di produzione dei carburanti sintetici sono ancora elevati. I carburanti sintetici e rinnovabili saranno pi\u00f9 convenienti una volta che la capacit\u00e0 di produzione sar\u00e0 cresciuta e il costo dell\u2019elettricit\u00e0 da fonti rinnovabili sar\u00e0 diminuito. Secondo gli studi attuali, il prezzo di questi carburanti arriver\u00e0 a 1,20 &#8211; 1,40 euro\/litro (escluse le accise) entro il 2030 e a 1 euro\/litro entro il 2050. Gli svantaggi in termini di costo di questi combustibili rispetto ai carburanti tradizionali si riducono notevolmente se viene considerato il vantaggio ecologico. La loro compatibilit\u00e0 con infrastrutture gi\u00e0 esistenti e con le tecnologie automotive rende i carburanti sintetici e rinnovabili pi\u00f9 competitivi rispetto ad altri sistemi di propulsione alternativi.<\/p>\n<p>5) Possibili applicazioni<\/p>\n<p>Anche quando in futuro tutte le auto e i veicoli commerciali saranno alimentati elettricamente o da celle a combustibile, gli aerei, le navi e parti del settore dei trasporti pesanti continueranno ad affidarsi a carburanti tradizionali. I motori a combustione alimentati da carburanti sintetici \u201ccarbon neutral\u201d rappresentano quindi un\u2019importante strada da esplorare.<\/p>\n<p>6) Risorse<\/p>\n<p>Scegliere se impiegare le risorse per la produzione di combustibile o di alimenti \u00e8 un problema che non si pone con i carburanti sintetici basati sull\u2019elettricit\u00e0. I bio carburanti innovativi, prodotti per esempio da materiali di scarto, sono utili ma la loro disponibilit\u00e0 \u00e8 limitata. L\u2019utilizzo di energia rinnovabile consente invece la produzione di quantit\u00e0 illimitate di carburanti sintetici. \u00c8 possibile generare ovunque nel mondo energia rinnovabile sufficiente per produrre carburante che pu\u00f2 essere immagazzinato e trasportato con relativa facilit\u00e0.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 3\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p>7) Stoccaggio e trasporto<\/p>\n<p>I carburanti sintetici sono prodotti a partire da energia rinnovabile con un processo che genera un gas o un liquido. In questo senso, i carburanti sintetici e rinnovabili consentono di immagazzinare grandi quantit\u00e0 di energia rinnovabile e di trasportarla a costi convenienti. Questi carburanti possono quindi essere utilizzati come riserva sia per ovviare alle oscillazioni di produzione di energia solare o eolica sia per rispettare le limitazioni regionali sulla produzione di energia rinnovabile. Gli effetti si vedono anche sul livello di efficienza. Un veicolo elettrico compatto caricato in Germania con elettricit\u00e0 rinnovabile prodotta localmente, converte circa il 60-70% di quella potenza in prestazioni su strada. Se l\u2019elettricit\u00e0 proviene da molto pi\u00f9 lontano e l\u2019energia deve essere immagazzinata in un supporto chimico prima di essere riconvertita in elettricit\u00e0, l\u2019efficienza scende al 20-25%. Si tratta della stessa efficienza di un veicolo alimentato a carburanti sintetici rinnovabili.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-37278\"
