CRISI E RINASCITA DELLA GAMMA DS A CAVALLO TRA GLI ANNI \u201960 E I \u201970."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Presentata nell\u2019ottobre del 1955, <strong>alla fine degli anni \u201960 la DS aveva gi\u00e0 alle spalle una lunga carriera<\/strong> di successi sportivi ed il totale consenso della stampa automobilistica che non poteva non notare come gli aggiornamenti a cui era stata sottoposta durante i suoi numerosi anni di produzione l\u2019avessero mantenuta fresca e sempre all\u2019avanguardia.<\/p>\n<p>Tuttavia il restyling a cui era stata sottoposta nel 1967, con l\u2019introduzione del nuovo frontale con quattro fari carenati e -l\u2019anno dopo- nuovi motori, non aveva impresso alle vendite quel balzo immaginato dal marketing Citro\u00ebn.<\/p>\n<p>Intendiamoci, la DS si vendeva molto bene e \u201ctrainava\u201d la gamma Citro\u00ebn, ma la Dea delle automobili sembrava per la prima volta avvertire il peso degli anni.<\/p>\n<p><br \/>In realt\u00e0 il \u201cproblema\u201d era diverso, di carattere pi\u00f9 psicologico che tecnologico: la DS19 nacque nel 1955 e fu seguita un anno dopo da una seconda versione, la ID19, presentata al Salone di Parigi del \u201956.<\/p>\n<p>La nuova nata era una sorta di DS \u201cridotta\u201d: per prima cosa, costava meno. Poi era priva di molte delle finiture di lusso della DS: aveva maniglie interne in plastica, il tetto era in vetroresina naturale, i panelli delle porte erano semplificati, montava motori meno potenti ed era priva di assistenza idraulica a volante, cambio, frizione e freni che erano di tipo tradizionale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La ID19 prosegu\u00ec la sua carriera al fianco della DS<\/strong>: il suo prezzo pi\u00f9 allettante ne favoriva le vendite che superarono spesso quelle della sorella pi\u00f9 \u201cricca\u201d. Negli anni \u201950 (e fino al modello \u201963) la ID19 fu la risposta a chi chiedeva una trasmissione meccanica in luogo della semiautomatica di serie sulla DS19, poi anche su questa arriv\u00f2 l\u2019opzione del cambio tradizionale ed i numeri si equlibrarono.<\/p>\n<p>Su alcuni mercati, tuttavia, la ID19 fu \u201cavvicinata\u201d per finiture e dotazioni alla DS, in particolar modo in Italia, dove l\u2019allora direttore generale Gerard Vion arriv\u00f2 a chiedere una ID19 con la stessa meccanica della DS19: <strong>la IDSuper, lanciata nel \u201966 con grandissimo successo<\/strong> in un mercato, il nostro, che mal digeriva gli automatismi sulla trasmissione e che amava invece il controllo del conducente su cambio e frizione.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019anno successivo la ID Super divenne la ID20 ed affianc\u00f2 la ID19 a livello internazionale, ma la gamma rimase divisa tra ID e DS ancora per due anni, finch\u00e9 nel 1969, l\u2019ex direttore generale di Citro\u00ebn Italia fu richiamato a Parigi nella nuova veste di direttore marketing globale, con particolare riferimento ai modelli ID e DS, per i quali tanto aveva fatto in Italia.<\/p>\n<p>Veterano del lancio della DS19 a Parigi nel \u201955, mentre tutti pensavano fosse giunto il momento di staccare la spina alla linea di montaggio della DS, <strong>Vion elabor\u00f2 un piano semplice quanto efficace<\/strong>: chiese al centro stile di modificare l\u2019aspetto delle ID, rendendole (come aveva fatto in Italia nel \u201963) pi\u00f9 vicine alle sorelle DS: tetto verniciato, per incominciare e finiture simili alle DS Confort. Poi chiese una plancia unica per ID e DS ed infine fece cancellare dai depliant la denominazione ID: l<strong>a ID19 divenne la DSp\u00e9cial<\/strong>, la <strong>ID20 divent\u00f2 la DSuper<\/strong>, poi cancell\u00f2 la DS19 in favore della DS20 che precedeva nella gamma l\u2019ammiraglia DS21.<\/p>\n<p>La Francia fu tappezzata da enormi pannelli pubblicitari che dicevano <strong>\u201cnon c\u2019\u00e8 che una DS\u201d, <\/strong>sottolineando che l\u2019ID, la \u201cDS dei poveri\u201d, come la chiamavano in Francia, era scomparsa dai listini e dai saloni. Nessuno (tranne Vion) l\u2019avrebbe detto, ma <strong>il successo fu travolgente<\/strong>. Ancora oggi, Gerard Vion ricordando quell\u2019episodio sorride dicendo \u201cgli operai mi odiavano: per colpa mia la fabbrica di Javel si trov\u00f2 a lavorare su tre turni giornalieri di otto ore ciascuno!\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La lunga carriera della gamma DS, che ormai si chiamava semplicemente \u201cGamma D\u201d, trov\u00f2 quello slancio atteso due anni prima, uno slancio che non perse di vigore per i sei anni successivi, fino a quel 24 aprile del 1975 che vide l\u2019uscita dalle catene di montaggio dell\u2019ultima DS berlina: la crisi petrolifera e la psicosi collettiva sull\u2019esaurimento del petrolio, ritenuto imminente, unite ai limiti di velocit\u00e0 imposti sulle autostrade, posero fuori dai giochi le grosse berline DS e le veloci coup\u00e9 SM, cos\u00ec come analoghi modelli di altre marche.<\/p>\n<p>Un\u2019era si chiudeva, un\u2019altra iniziava.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-39274\"
