Tutto ebbe inizio il <b data-path-to-node=\"18\" data-index-in-node=\"162\">2 gennaio 1893<\/b>, quando una Peugeot Tipo 3 varc\u00f2 il confine, diventando ufficialmente la prima automobile a circolare nel Bel Paese. Un atto di puro pionierismo che apr\u00ec la strada a un rapporto indissolubile.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"19\">Dalle prime gare alla produzione milanese<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"20\">Il marchio francese si impose subito nelle competizioni: gi\u00e0 nel 1898 i tricicli Peugeot si facevano valere nelle corse Torino-Asti-Torino. Ma la vera svolta avvenne dopo la Grande Guerra. Per aggirare i dazi protezionistici, Peugeot decise di stabilirsi fisicamente in Italia.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"21\">Dopo una breve parentesi con Isotta Fraschini, il <b data-path-to-node=\"21\" data-index-in-node=\"50\">1\u00b0 febbraio 1926<\/b> nacque ufficialmente la <b data-path-to-node=\"21\" data-index-in-node=\"91\">\u201cS.A. Italiana dei Cicli e Automobili Peugeot\u201d<\/b>. La sede scelta fu quella di <b data-path-to-node=\"21\" data-index-in-node=\"167\">Viale Umbria 32 a Milano<\/b>, un edificio che ancora oggi testimonia quel passato industriale. Qui venivano assemblate le Peugeot 5CV, &#8220;italianizzate&#8221; con pneumatici Pirelli, impianti Magneti Marelli e finiture di pregio in legno, pensate per il gusto raffinato della clientela locale.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"22\">L&#8217;ostacolo dell&#8217;autarchia e la rinascita torinese<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"23\">Nonostante i successi sportivi, come la vittoria di classe alla <b data-path-to-node=\"23\" data-index-in-node=\"64\">Mille Miglia del 1927<\/b>, il Regime Fascista impose tasse pesantissime sulle auto straniere (fino al 130%). Questo costrinse il Leone a chiudere lo stabilimento milanese nel 1930.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"24\">Tuttavia, il DNA Peugeot rimase legato all&#8217;Italia. Nel 1951 inizi\u00f2 la leggendaria collaborazione con <b data-path-to-node=\"24\" data-index-in-node=\"101\">Pininfarina<\/b>, che port\u00f2 alla nascita della <b data-path-to-node=\"24\" data-index-in-node=\"143\">Peugeot 403<\/b> nel 1955.
